I wrote this review back in 2018 but I do not believe the original review did this work justice. Tiffany Haddish's book, last black unicorn is honestly one of the funniest and most grounded autobiographies i have ever read in my life. I know many people will say she's not funny, and I know she has had her drama in the news over the last few years but when I first saw her comedy debut in the movie Girls Trip, I knew she was going to be a star. She was just so genuinely funny in the movie. Like Jim Carey, it feels like whenever she's in a movie she is just being herself in the role that she's been given.

In this book I could feel how raw and open she was being and if this book was written by a ghost writer, then I would have never known because it feels she just spoke into a recorder and just told story after story until she came to the end and then typed the entire thing.

What I like about this book is that she talks about her life in a way that it's like a friend telling you about their day or past experiences. She makes you feel like she's speaking to you on a face to face basis and that's one of the best parts of this book

I recommend this book for three reasons.

  1. It is a really easy read so for people who don't read often or feel intimidated by reading at times. This is definitely something great to read on your off time, because the writing style is so great that you'll find yourself devouring chapter after chapter without even realizing. I tried to read Kevin Hart's autobiography and didn't get the pull to finish reading it at all. There's a certain charm about this book that will keep you engaged for long periods of time.

  2. This story is easily one of the funniest things I have ever read. Now I don't know if it's because it's non fiction or a autobiography form a comedian. But you laughing forever. Since this story is written in a first person perspective and sounds like a friend spilling tea from her entire life, if you have a cup or a mug. I say fill it up and read this book.

  3. This story is not just funny, but it carries great life lessons. It opens your eyes to many things and really helps you reflect on your own experiences and how they can change you for the better.

Overall I believe that this autobiography is amazing and I will probably read it again later this year because it is a story worth reading over and over again and I give Tiffany Haddish complete credit for being able to shape her story into something entertaining and worth it.
