The Sims 4 X Black Lives Matter: Update

Sul Sul Simmers,

During these trying times, we know that everyone is looking for an escape and The Sims 4 is here to provide that for its players. On behalf of the Gurus and Maxis™, we would like to say that we stand with the Black Community as our families, friends and our players. The Sims 4 is dedicated and predicated on ensuring diversity and inclusivity for our players. We have heard you all loud and clear! So, on November 9th, 2020, we are making three major updates to the game!

The first update will be directly impacting the base game Create-A-Sim assets. We will be extending the values on the lip, nose and weight sliders. With this update, we are extending the limits of your creativity and ensuring that our Simmers can create more unique and diverse sims to strengthen their storytelling and gameplay experience.

The second update is addressing skin-tones. Over the last few years, as a team, we have realized we have not been fully listening to our fanbase. For that, we sincerely apologize. To make it up to you avid Simmers out there, we will be implementing a dual-skin tone colour wheel which will allow Simmers of every race around the world to be able to finely detail both the skin tone and the under hue of your Sims in-game. No more will you have to complain about the ashy and dry darker skin tones that our game had for Black Sims or the lack thereof lighter tones for Asian simmers. We are ensuring that you can make yourself, your families, your friends and much more in the world you create.

Lastly, we are announcing our partnering with Black Lives Matter. We have worked with a few of our African American game changers, our teams' creative directors and core members of the Black Lives Matter movement to create several clothing items with a Black Lives Matter theme, this will include shirts and sweaters with 10 swatches of several different designs and colours for every sim life state. Along with this, 30% of our profits from our next expansion pack will be donated to the Black Lives Matter movement and bail funds across the country.

Inclusivity and representation is the goal of The Sims™

As we progress, we hope to enhance the gaming experience for our entire player base.

We hope you will continue to follow us on our journey!

That’s it for now, Simmers! And remember to keep up with The Sims 4 on Forums, Follow and Subscribe to us on all social media platforms and sign up for The Sims 4 newsletter to receive Grim’s Ghoulish Guitar for free!
